Just last week, the Missouri Board of Therapeutic Massage announced that the MBLEx, which stands for the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam, would be acceptable for Missouri licensure. The news comes just days after the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals released a statement commending the American Massage Therapy Association’s (AMTA) statement in which the AMTA announced its support of the MBLEx. The exam gives massage therapy students another option for licensing in Missouri.
The MBLEx is currently recognized by more than 15 states, including Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and West Virginia. The MBLEx was introduced on Oct. 1, 2007, and developed by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards.
