You might think that time in the sun or even a sunless tanner will give you a healthy, more attractive glow, but there’s a new miracle beauty product in town: Veggies! According to new research, eating a diet high in fruits and veggies gives you a healthier glow than the sun.
The research, which was published in the Journal Evolution and Human Behaviour credits substances called carotenoids for the glow. Carotenoids, responsible for the red coloring in carrots and tomatoes, are antioxidants that help soak up damaging compounds produced by the stresses and strains of everyday living. Carotenoids are also important for the immune and reproductive systems.
